My Great Grandfather, for whom I was named (William Evans Jackson) and my Grand Father, Thomas S. Clayton, both lived and worked in Charlestown. My Father Albert E. Clayton was also born there and fished in his early years with the Murphy's. I spent many a great summer with Grand Dad who always gave me an Ice Cream Cone at Shockleys where he worked. I even remember Murphy,s beach just a few steps from Grandaddy's cottage, where I wasted the nickles on the games.
I have not been back in a long time, but will make it a point this year. Perhaps I may even meet a few old timers who remember my Dad and Grand Dad...I am trying to do some research into our family.
Great Project...Thanks to all who help to organize it.
